Having outdoor adventures can be fun for the entire family – especially the family pet. Most dogs love the exercise and exploration that activities like hiking allows them, but it’s important to learn some safety tips before hitting the trails with your four-legged friend. ● It’s a good idea to have your vet check your dog out before embarking. You want to make sure that your canine is healthy enough for camping or hiking.

● Choose breed-appropriate activities for your adventures. High-energy, long-nosed dogs might enjoy hiking on a warm day, and winter-ready breeds like huskies love an outdoorsy winter trip. On the flip side, your short-nosed dogs (pugs and Frenchies) will prefer short trips to a coffee shop in mild weather, or air conditioned spaces when it’s hot.

● Auto theft and break-ins are a real concern while traveling and staying at your destination, especially if you are not parked on the premises. Learn some easy ways to make your vehicle less enticing for criminals.
