Tested by Seven & Paige Turner

Amazon is filled with best-selling dog products promising happier, healthier, and more entertained pups. But do they really live up to the hype?

Welcome to the first installment of a new Paws on the Go series, where my Australian Shepherds, Seven and Paige Turner, test Amazon’s most popular dog products. We’ll share what we genuinely love, what didn’t work for us, and whether we’d recommend each item to fellow dog lovers.

As someone who has shared my life with dogs for decades and has written three books celebrating the human-animal bond; I’ve learned that every dog is different. A product with thousands of glowing reviews may become your dog’s new favorite, or it may sit untouched in the toy basket.

That’s why these reviews are based on real-world experience, not marketing claims.

Here’s what Seven and Paige thought about three best sellers.

Woof Pupsicle

Paw Rating: 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

If I could recommend only one product in this roundup, it would be the Woof Pupsicle. Made from durable natural rubber, this clever enrichment toy can be filled with frozen treats, broth, pumpkin, yogurt, or Woof’s ready-made Pops. Just freeze it, give it to your dog, and watch them enjoy a cool, long-lasting treat that keeps both their mind and mouth happily engaged.

During the summer months, there are plenty of days when it’s simply too hot for a long walk. That’s when enrichment toys like the Pupsicle become essential.

Both Seven and Paige became fans almost immediately. What I love most is how it encourages them to settle down and focus. Instead of pacing around the house looking for something to do, they’re happily occupied for quite a while.

Why We Love It

Our Verdict: Five paws without hesitation. This has earned a permanent place in our house.

ThunderShirt

Paw Rating: 🐾🐾

The ThunderShirt has thousands of positive reviews and continues to be one of Amazon’s best-selling anxiety products. I truly wanted it to work, especially since my dogs are so noise sensitive.

The idea makes sense. Gentle pressure is supposed to help calm dogs during fireworks, thunderstorms, travel, or other stressful situations. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t effective for either Seven or Paige.

I tried it during fireworks and other stressful events but never noticed enough improvement to continue using it. That’s not to say it won’t work for your dog. Many owners absolutely love theirs. It simply wasn’t the right solution for us.

Instead, I’ve had better luck creating a quiet environment, using enrichment activities, and staying close to my dogs during stressful situations.

Our Verdict: Worth trying if your dog struggles with anxiety, but it wasn’t successful in our household.

Chuckit! Ultra Ball & Launcher

Paw Rating: 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

If your dog loves to play fetch, I can’t recommend the Chuckit! Ultra Ball and Launcher highly enough. Seven and Paige absolutely love them.

The launcher makes throwing effortless, while the balls bounce well, float in water, and hold up to plenty of enthusiastic play.

But there’s another reason I recommend them whenever I can. Like many dog owners, I used ordinary tennis balls for years without giving them a second thought.

Then Seven developed serious dental problems. The fuzzy covering on traditional tennis balls acts like sandpaper against a dog’s teeth. Over years of playing fetch, that abrasive surface gradually wore down Seven’s canine teeth until he eventually needed four root canals.

Watching him go through that was heartbreaking, and the veterinary bills certainly weren’t small. Once I learned what had happened, I switched to Chuckit! Ultra Balls and never looked back.

They’re made from smooth rubber rather than abrasive felt, making them a much safer choice for dogs who play fetch regularly.

Why We Love Them

Our Verdict: Five paws and one of the best purchases we’ve ever made.

Final Thoughts

One of the reasons I wanted to start this series is because dog owners are constantly searching for honest product recommendations.

Some best sellers truly deserve their reputation. Others simply don’t work for every dog.

My goal isn’t to convince you to buy something. It’s to share our real experiences so you can make informed choices for your own four-legged family member.

Next time, Seven and Paige will be testing another group of Amazon’s best-selling dog products to see whether they deserve a place in your home—or your shopping cart.

Have you tried any of these products? I’d love to hear what your dogs think in the comments.
